CICS will participate in the 26th annual meeting of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society, to be held in Brazil

CICS members are participating in the reviewers panel selected by the Scientific Committee of the 26th annual meeting of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society (HBES), which is chaired by Alvaro Fischer, president of the Science and Evolution Foundation. Worth mentioning that Ana Maria Fernandez, a member of the external network of the Doctorate in Social Complexity Sciences of the Universidad del Desarrollo, also integrates the Scientific Committee of the conference.

The 26th annual meeting of the HBES to be held in Natal, Brazil is being co-organized by the Science al Evolution Fundation and will take place from July 30th to August 2nd of 2014. The venue for this Conference will be the Praiamar Natal Hotel & Convention, Ponta Negra Beach. The 2014 Conference, will be held under the motto Evolution, Society, and Culture, underlying the importance of the evolutionary perspective in understanding the origins of society with all its implications. Additionally, this theme emphasizes the role of the social environment and the cultural practices that emerge from it. According to the HBES, at our current level of knowledge, integrating comparative and cross-cultural approaches in our analyses allows us to better understand the origins, universalities and peculiarities of human nature, including the functioning of a wide range of personal, social and reproductive behaviors.

The HBES is a society for all those studying the evolution of human behavior. Scientific perspectives range from evolutionary psychology to evolutionary anthropology and cultural evolution; and the membership includes researchers from a range of disciplines in the social and biological sciences. Their membership is worldwide.

One of the main activities of the HBES is holding this annual conference that provides a forum to present and learn about current research in the field, and includes invited plenary talks from leading scientists in the field.
