Frontiers in Neuroscience, 14, 1023.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Resumen<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La atenci\u00f3n y la memoria de trabajo son componentes esenciales de las funciones ejecutivas y pueden mejorarse mediante el entrenamiento. Una actividad que ha demostrado mejorar las funciones ejecutivas es el entrenamiento musical, pero no se conocen bien las redes cerebrales que subyacen a estas mejoras. Nuestro objetivo es identificar, mediante RMN funcional (fMRI), estas redes en ni\u00f1os que aprenden y tocan regularmente un instrumento musical. Ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as de entre 10 y 13 a\u00f1os, con y sin formaci\u00f3n musical, completaron una tarea de atenci\u00f3n y WM mientras se med\u00eda su actividad cerebral con fMRI. Se present\u00f3 a los participantes un par de est\u00edmulos bimodales (auditivos y visuales) y se les pidi\u00f3 que prestaran atenci\u00f3n s\u00f3lo a los auditivos, s\u00f3lo a los visuales o a ambos al mismo tiempo. Los est\u00edmulos se probaron despu\u00e9s con una tarea de memoria para confirmar la asignaci\u00f3n de la atenci\u00f3n. Ambos grupos tuvieron una mayor precisi\u00f3n en los elementos a los que se les pidi\u00f3 que prestaran atenci\u00f3n, pero los m\u00fasicos tuvieron un mejor rendimiento general en ambas tareas de memoria en todas las condiciones de atenci\u00f3n. En l\u00ednea con esto, los m\u00fasicos mostraron una mayor activaci\u00f3n que los controles en regiones de control cognitivo como la red de control fronto-parietal durante todas las fases de codificaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, la codificaci\u00f3n facilitada de los est\u00edmulos auditivos en los m\u00fasicos se correlacion\u00f3 positivamente con los a\u00f1os de entrenamiento y con una mayor actividad en la circunvoluci\u00f3n frontal inferior izquierda y en la circunvoluci\u00f3n supramarginal izquierda, estructuras que apoyan el bucle fonol\u00f3gico.
